ABOUT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors is elected by the members of Musical Theatre Productions at the Annual General Meeting held each year in July. Although the Board’s complement is a minimum of seven (7) and a maximum of thirteen (13), it presently consists of elevan (11) members. The terms are staggered with each newly elected member serving a three-year term unless he/she is simply completing the balance of the term of a member who has left office.

The Executive is chosen by the Board at its first meeting following the Annual General Meeting. The President, Vice-President and Secretary are each appointed for a one year term while the Treasurer is appointed indefinitely and continues to serve at the pleasure of the Board.

Meetings of the Board are held on the third Monday of each month with additional meetings called as required. Board members who are not in attendance at three consecutive meetings, without good reason, may be removed from the Board.

General Admission – $28
Member Price – $20
Advance Student – $20 (High School and University/College)
Children – $18.50 (13 years and under)
Preview Performance – $20
Student Rush – $15 (available at the door only)
Groups of 10 or more – $20 (all tickets must be for same performance)

Prepaid tickets may be picked up at the door on the day of the performance. Tickets are also available at the door, however, please be aware that walk-ups are not guaranteed tickets or preferred seating – all tickets are subject to availability on a first come, first served basis only.

The Palace Theatre offers handicapped accessibility and ample parking behind the theatre.

Gilbert and Sullivan operetta’s have been an annual London tradition since 1955. First staged by the Gilbert and Sullivan Society, then produced by Theatre Western (University Students’ Council), then in partnership between London Musical Theatre and Theatre Western, and finally in partnership with the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western.

In future, Musical Theatre Productions will produce these operettas on its own and at the Palace Theatre. London’s tradition of producing Gilbert and Sullivan operettas is the second oldest in all of Canada, with the 2004 production of The Mikado having marked the 50th Anniversary!

Cast size is usually 35 – 40 including all major and minor lead roles. We rent professional costumes for a dramatic and authentic period look and we hire a full orchestra to bring the music to life.

CHOICE OF PRODUCTIONS

MTP’s two annual productions are chosen through a formal proposal process where members of the London community are encouraged to submit their ideas for consideration.

Interested parties must form a complete artistic team comprising of producer, director, musical director, choreographer and stage manager who are prepared to produce a show.

Musical productions are selected on an annual basis.

MEMBERSHIP

Musical Theatre Productions welcomes anyone who is interested in musical theatre or a supporter of the local arts community. We encourage you to become a member in order to receive advance and up to date notice of all MTP auditions, shows, partner news and special events. Memberships are $25 are valid for one year.

All participants in our productions (artistic team, production team, cast) are required to be members of MTP.

Musical Theatre Productions is a charitable organization formed in 1988 and registered with the Federal Ministry of Revenue (Registration #13162 1500 RR0001). We are also registered with The Ontario Ministry of Finance as a not-for-profit organization (Ontario Corporation #784278).

One need not be a member of Musical Theatre Productions in order to audition, but if chosen for the cast, membership is required. Cast members are also expected to assist with poster distribution and sometimes other forms of publicity, ticket sales, etc.
